HOLY ROSARY COUNCIL #13579
*FROM OUR GRAND KNIGHT*
My brother Knights,
I can hardly believe that it has been a
whole year since I was given the honor of
leading this council. They say that time flies when you are
having fun but it seems as though we were being installed
as officers just yesterday. This past year has brought me
great joy. All of our events have been well attended and
every time I have asked for your help, you have been there
for your brothers and me. I would like to thank all of you
who have participated this past year and I would like to
challenge all of you who have not been active to follow
the example of your brothers who have been active. I am
not asking you to show up for all the events but just pick
one or two projects and get involved.
Speaking on behalf of Wayne and myself, I would like to
express our deep gratitude for allowing us to represent you
at the State Convention. It is an amazing thing to see so
many Catholic men and women at the Masses and the
Living Rosary. It has been an enlightening experience for
me personally to see the bigger picture of just how the
Knights of Columbus functions and works throughout the
State of Michigan.
It is always good to see so many of my Brother Knights
at the Corporate Communions. It is a great opportunity to
show the members of our parishes that we can gather
together as a family to worship God and celebrate the gift
of His Son. For those members I did not see, let me say
this: I know we are Catholic and change is sometimes
difficult. We have a certain day we like to attend Mass,
maybe a certain time and even some have a favorite pew.
Maybe you need to expand your world, celebrate Mass
with our Knights family … you may find the pews are
softer in another parish.
Congratulations need to go out to the new slate of
officers. Without their help and participation your council
would not function as well as it has in the past. These are
men who have stepped up to the plate and will donate
more time than most of us do not realize. Because of their
hard work, we stand out from the other councils in our
area and in the State. It feels good to talk to a brother
Knight from the other side of the state and find out they
know who we are. Thank you the hard work and efforts
that make us look so good. Officers Training is coming up
in June. We will be taught not only the duties of our office
but things we can do to make the council run better. Our
Council will be providing two of the instructors for this
training and that should tell you something about the
caliber of our Council.
Our second gas raffle of the year has begun and if you
have not gotten your tickets yet, I would ask you to make
arrangements to get them. At the last business meeting, I
issued a challenge to everyone in the council to outsell our
Worthy District Deputy Tom Ketchum this time. He has
outsold every single member in each of our Gas Raffles
and not just by a little. I would like to see one of you take
up my challenge and “dethrone him” as it were. Tom has
done an awesome job selling these tickets so it will not be
an easy task, good luck to all of you in this endeavor.
