HOLY ROSARY COUNCIL #13579
*FROM OUR GRAND KNIGHT*
I have started out all
of my letters with membership and this one
will be no exception. I am happy to
welcome four new members, Greg
Anderson, Larry Bozik., Jim Vandel and Don Martines.
Please make these gentlemen feel welcome. I would also
like to mention that there is a Major Degree coming up on
November 2nd at Our Lady of White Lake in Montague.
All members who have not completed their Major Degree
should attend. Remember, you have already paid for it.
The month of October has been so busy but, also so
gratifying. Our Council started out the month with The
Annual Tootsie Roll Drive. To say that I am proud of this
council would be an understatement. In the last three
years, we have seen remarkable gains in the amount of
both funds and participation in this event. The MI Drive is
our biggest charitable event and this year we have done
very well. Participation levels were at 52% this year with a
take in over $2,400,00. This is the total without the
expenses taken out. I would like to give a big thanks to,
PGK & DD Tom Ketchum for contacting the Wal-Mart
Stores, Wayne LaPointe for helping at almost all of the
locations, the Round Table Coordinators for and members
who helped in the various locations and parishes. This
council has set an example for the other councils in our
District as to what a few good Knights can do.
The Younkers day Fundraiser has been going well,
thanks to its Chairman, Brian Cirner. This fundraiser has
benefited us in both our financial area as well, as getting
us out in the community. So far only the council officers
have stepped up to the plate to help with this fundraiser,
which bothers me some. I would like to see a few new
faces helping out, maybe some of those who could not
help with the MI Drive can help with this project, it is only
two hours out of the weekend.
The St. Jeans Chicken Dinner was held on October 12th.
The amount of Brother Knights in Blue Shirts was very
impressive. Our immediate PGK Mike Lewis is the chair
for this parish on this event. Mark Trier was in charge of
cooking the chicken and still more Knights serving or
bussing tables. There were even Knights from other
councils helping. The rosary and information table was set
up and staffed by a number of our brothers. It is St Jeans
125th year celebration as a parish.
When the new fraternal year began, I challenged my
Brother Knights to attend at least six meetings this year.
Therefore, I am sure that I will be seeing the council
chambers full in the upcoming months. We are still doing
a potluck after the meetings, so bring us one of your
specialties to try. The Council Christmas party will be
coming up in December, so look for the date or contact
Wayne LaPointe for information.
The last few weeks the readings at Mass have been about
choices, both good and bad, mercy and justice. I couldn’t
help but think when writing this letter how much of a
better person I am, because of the opportunities the
Knights of Columbus has given me and the choices to
serve my fellow man.
We are located at Sacred Heart Church at 150 E. Summit,
Muskegon Heights, Michigan. We service the 4 Muskegon urban Parishes. We are a

Fraternity, and Patriotism. Our business meetings are every 3rd Wednesday of the month,
at 7pm. Please Leave any questions or comments in our guestbook.
My Brother Knights:
